- Image the heart and brain of HFpEF and VCI patients using advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques sensitive to changes in the microcirculation.
- Collect other measures in patients and develop alternate, cheaper biomarkers to assess microvascular rarefaction.
- Study the mechanism of rarefaction in animal models to identify key players in the process that could be targeted pharmacologically to prevent microvascular rarefaction.
Vascular dementia and heart failure represent major health burden to morbidity, mortality and quality of life.
